Monday:
Speed and power - Coventry University track - 1.5/2 hrs
High performance gym session - Birmingham HIPAC - 3/4 hr
Tuesday:
Roller session or road - Cardio 1 hr
Wednesday:
Technique - Loughborough HIPAC – 1.5/2hrs
Thursday:
Gym session - Telford College - 1 hr
Sprint and distance - Roller session - 1 hr
Friday:
Aerobic pushing - Road - 1/2hr
Speed/endurance - college pm - 1 hr/ 1.5
Saturday:
Speed/endurance - Home Peer Point National Water Sports Centre - 2/3 hrs
Sunday:
Rest - 'Mickey-speak' for competing in races
Training
Mickey trains in the gym, on the track or on rollers twice a day, 6 days a week, 312 days a year.
He covers 43 miles a week or 2,230 miles in a year - the equivalent of pushing across the United States from Washington DC to Los Angeles!
Mickey works constantly on his strength, conditioning and diet to perfect his aerodynamic position and to control his power output.
